Can I negotiate with auto claim adjuster over whether or not car is totaled?

I was just in an accident and days after, the adjuster made his way out to where the car was left by the tow company. He called me yesterday and stated that it was a total loss. I talked to a bmw mechanic who saw my car and he said that it looked fixable. Is there anyway to negotiate whether or not the car is indeed a total loss. I have faith that it is actually fixable, only because my car is still be appraised at k which gives quite a bit of wiggle room as far as sinking money into the car for the repairs.

Can I get a second opinion?

What can I do to fight for my car?

Plus,if they total it, I will lose everything and still owe $$ on my loan. Insurance companies are SO SCHIESTY!

Thanks for your answers!
HOW DO I GO ABOUT GETTING A SECOND OPINION? WHO WOULD I HIRE TO DO THAT?
SEE, I KNOW THAT THERE IS A % THAT THEY GO BY TO MAKE THE DETERMINATION. BUT THEY PRICE THEY DECIDE ON MIGHT BE WRONG. AND IN MY OPINION, I THINK THEY ARE FAR OFF. WHO DO I GET FOR A SECOND OPINION??
