Cause & solution for foul laundry rm odors?

50-yr old house; the basement laundry rm houses the washer/dryer, utility sink, furnace, hot water heater & sump pump. The sump pump gives off a foul odor from the sitting water that doesn’t get pumped all the way out. Not only does this smell permeate the house at times, but also the clothes that come out of the dryer, unless I use 3-4 dryer sheets per load. I’ve tried pouring bleach or pinesol in it, but that just creates a blended unpleasant odor. Then there is the 8-yr old washing machine that has a very strong musty mildewy odor when not in use. The smell is strong enough to notice if standing anywhere near the washer, especially when the lid is open, which makes loading/unloading sickening. Fortunately & strangely, it does not transfer to washed loads, which makes me think its coming from somewhere between the frame & drum, but I don’t know how or why. All cycles work properly & there aren’t any visible leaks. This room is large enough for much-need storage space; however, that’s futile. I feel like I need the fix-it guys from HGTV…
