How do I cut a laminate bathroom counter top?

I'm in the middle of remodeling my main bathroom in my house, which was built in 1968. Last week, I purchased a laminate bathroom counter top/vanity combo (display unit…it was the last one they had) from Lowe's that I thought would fit. Turns out, the cabinets fit perfectly…but the counter top is 1/2″ too long.

What do I do in order to make it fit? Can I take the counter top to a stone cutting service, or is this something I can do myself at home??

P.s. I hate remodeling now.
