How do you remove hydrochloric acid stains from stainless steel sink fittings?

I made a mistake when using a toilet cleaner – a really strong one that contains hydrochloric acid. It was all I had to hand for cleaning at the time so thought I would use it, because it cleans the toilet so well. It accidently got on to the stainless steel fittings of my sink and now the steel is dulled down to grey and some of it has gone yellow. I wasn’t aware that bleach could stain steel like this but will be more careful from now on.
Can anyone help with my dilemma?
