What solvents will not hurt stainless steel?

I am prepping a house for market. The real estate agent has convinced the homeowner that the utility sink in the garage needs to be cleaned. It was a kitchen sink, but when I installed a nice cast iron porcelain sink in her kitchen, a few years ago, the stainless one graduated to the garage and became a utility sink.

Now this thing is freaking nasty… But what do you expect, it is a utility sink?

I would have to tear out the tile backslpash and counters around it to replace it. So that, unfortunately, is an option of last resort.

I’m thinking lacquer thinner may clean it up, but don’t want to find out the hard way, that it has a bad chemical reaction to stainless. Like bleach does.

What have you used to strip paint off of stainless steel?
